OPENINGS
Research Opportunities for Research Professor / Ph.D. / Integrated M.S.–Ph.D. Positions
We are seeking highly motivated researchers and graduate students to join our research team at Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea, as part of a 9-year Leader Research Program funded by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), with a total research funding of approximately KRW 7.2 billion (USD 5 million).
Project Title (Leader Research Program funded by NRF)
High-Efficiency and Highly Transparent Plasmonic Photothermal Platform with Selective Wavelength Absorption
Overview
This project aims to develop next-generation transparent plasmonic photothermal platforms by integrating nanomaterial synthesis, optical and thermal characterization, micro/nanoscale patterning, numerical simulation, and AI-assisted optimization.
Key Research Areas
- Synthesis and fabrication of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs), including nanospheres and nanorods
- Design and characterization of plasmonic nanostructures and localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR)
- FDTD simulations for electromagnetic field distributions, optical absorption, and plasmonic response
- Photothermal energy conversion and micro/nanoscale heat transfer
- Droplet evaporation and droplet-based micro/nanopatterning
- Nanoparticle transport, self-assembly, and deposition control
- Optical and thermal characterization of transparent photothermal structures
- AI-assisted design and optimization of plasmonic structures and materials
Open Positions
Research Professor / Postdoctoral-level Researcher / Ph.D. Student / Integrated M.S.–Ph.D. Student
Applicants with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, materials science, nanotechnology, optics/photonics, physics, chemical engineering, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Experience in one or more of the following areas is particularly welcome: gold nanoparticle synthesis, plasmonic nanomaterials, FDTD simulation, optical characterization, heat transfer, micro/nanofabrication, and droplet/interfacial phenomena.
Research Environment
Successful candidates will participate in a long-term, large-scale research program (9 years, KRW 7.2 billion) and have opportunities to conduct interdisciplinary research combining experiments, numerical simulations, and AI-based optimization, with access to advanced facilities for optical, thermal, and micro/nanoscale characterization. We will also provide opportunities for international collaboration, conference participation, and publication in leading international journals.
